Ship to Shore

Remember about ten days ago when I posted this photo...

To show you how high the Kiski River was?

Today Mr. K and I went out to check on Camp Manfred.

This is what we saw...

Apparently the river has gone down...

But not before it knocked the dock up on the hill!

What's next?

Not sure, waiting to see if those with common sense can figure it out.

Hang in there...

Getting Ahead?

Last night Ashley and Mindy were planning on a night out with a group of friends...

They had tickets to see 'I Mom So Hard.'

I knew that Ashley had seen them before and loved them...

What I didn't know was that Andy and Tony were planning to chill with the kids...

That's 3 kids, 4, 1 and 7 months...

Next thing I knew, the first official act as DICs...Dads In Charge, was...

Yes, that is Locklan.  Yes that is Locklan's head between those bars...

I knew you'd want to know, so I asked...

Andy's reply:  Haha, yes, he's fine.  Last week it was the dog!

As frightening as it might seem, it brought back memories and that 'warm fuzzy' feeling.

Thirty years ago, I stood by, giggling nervously while watching Mark struggle to get Andy free
from the back porch rail in our house!

~sigh~

As much as things change, they stay the same!

Happy Leon Day!

According to my former (and much missed) neighbor, Kelly,
Today is an important element in our Christmas celebration.

It's Leon Day!

Here's what she had to say...

"Did you know that today, the halfway point to Christmas, is called Leon Day? It’s “Noel” spelled backwards! Will you be doing anything to celebrate?"

It's no secret that I love any and all Christmas celebrations (except the elf on the shelf, that just creeps me out-reminds me of Marie Kondo)!  Until 5 minutes ago, I had only one appointment on my calendar for the day...Now I know I'll find some way to celebrate!

Now that you know, what will YOU do to celebrate?

We're doing it again!

Who remembers when I got two of these for my birthday?

It was such a great concert!

I remember feeling bad that it was his farewell tour...

Wellllllllllllllll

He's back!

Mr. K just ordered us tickets for his second farewell tour,
October 17!

I'm soooo excited!

Oh my goodness!!!!

Hot and Cranky

We went to Locklan's  dek hockey game on Monday...

It's been raining for 40 days and 40 nights...

When it warms up, the humidity is atrocious...

He kept telling Andy and Ashley that his head, then his leg, and even his elbow was itchy...

When he finally got to take his equipment off, he looked like a drowned rat...

But he wanted to be sure that I got a picture of the number on his shirt...

Bet he slept good that night!

The Newest Artist...

Seems like when Locklan started using (erasable) markers
we were always running out of paper.

He'd have to go and steal some out of Mr. K's office.

With Locklan still drawing
and Teagan and Henry coming along,
I needed to stock up on paper, right?

I found a solution in a magazine and promptly called the company.

I explained what I needed and the kind gentleman said they had just what I needed...

A roll of paper, 18"x900' and  a paper cutter.

The salesman assured me it would last through all three kids and I could decorate the hall with it when Locklan got married.

Looks like it might...

I couldn't wait to give it a try

As soon as we were done with lunch, I gave Teagan a marker...

I can't wait to frame her masterpiece!

How High's the Water, Ma?

Andy called me this morning.

He wanted me to ride along with him and the kids to check on camp.

It's been raining and raining and raining.

It seems as though it rains every day.

It has rained so much that my brother's house was flooded again,
like it was flooded from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

We've had hail, dangerous thunder storms and yes, a few tornadoes!

As we pulled into our lot, it was obvious that all was not as it should have been.

Normally, you have to go to the top of the stairs to see the boat.

Not the case today!

The river had pushed the dock closer to the shore, causing it to collapse on itself!

The new boat was hanging in there, the old one never made it to the water yet.

I keep ticking off the days of summer, one by one, but feel as though we're wasting them;

We all have passes to the pool and waterpark...

I don't think anyone has been there yet.

I didn't even pick up my pass yet...maybe tomorrow?

Rain rain, go away!

February was Short and Sweet

Seems like February was celebrations...

Henry was dedicated during church service...

Mindy's mother, aunt and niece came,
Mr.K met us after church and we all had lunch!

We celebrated Henry turning 3 months...

And of course, we celebrated...

Locklan's 4th birthday!

All in all, it was a short and sweet month...

A Bicycle Built for...3

Ashley shared these photos of her dynamic trio...

Teagan got her first ride on the bike seat!

Biking has been such a big part of their family story...

They even had their wedding photos taken on a vintage bike!

Ashley used to ride Locklan around...
before he learned to zip around on his own,,,

Now it's Teagan's turn!

With an added element...
Locklan bringing up the rear!

It's a tag along bike, like this.

Even though he's very proficient on two wheels,
it's easier to keep track of him on this one.

Looks like fun, doesn't it?

My 500th post/Happy Father's Day

Can you believe it?

I've been here, at Red Sock Mama for 4742 days but it's only my 500th post.

As much as I talk in real life, I think I could have
done better than that.

If you think that, keep it to yourself.

I'm rather sensitive

How strange that not only is it my 500th, but it's father's day...

Humor me while I show you a few of my favorite photos of fathers being fathers...

.

I couldn't dig up any photos of Mr. K being a human dad in my files...

but he IS Shirley's dad too...

Happy Father's Day!

What Happened in March?

Soooo, what DID happen in March?

Actually, not much...

The highlight of the month was Michael's birthday.

He turned 50.

How does it happen?  My kids are now older than I am!

Locklan got out his roller skates...
Uncle Tony gave him a few pointers...
While wearing his roller blades!

Andy was working on some home repairs while Locklan was in pre-school...

Teagan went along for the ride!

I decided to jump start my spring preparations...

I think we all experienced a little hockey fever...

Tony signed up for another session of roller hockey,
playing with a few of his high-school team mates!

Andy took the kids to the Dek Hockey rink.
He said Locklan was more interested in the bleachers...

Teagan, on the other hand...

Teagan wasn't walking yet, but she was hell bent of wearing Locklan's roller skates!

Our new sectional came.  It kept Locklan busy for hours, rearranging the sections!

Henry turned 4 months old...

One Friday, Locklan decided he needed to watch a movie with Henry...

Of course, there was a lot of cousin love going on...

And we finally found a use for that bench in the family room...

A staging area for car seats!

All in all, it was a fairly quiet month, but fun to remember!
