Summer, Don't Go!

Even though we're heading to my favorite season:

Winter and Christmas,

Days like this weekend made me realize summer is winding down

(after all, it is officially fall)...

And days like yesterday made me wish summer would last a few more months

(Like until December 24)

We headed for the river...

Teagan was first mate.  She loves to "drive" the boat!

Of course, we invited "Uncle" Cody to come along...

He can't get enough of his new jet ski!

This time, we took the floating mat.

We haven't had it out this year...

The kids loved it,

especially Teagan who was too small to play on it last year.

Andy took Locklan for a jet ski ride...

I don't think he was too happy when the ride came to an end...

Teagan got her very first jet ski ride...

Of course, Andy had to go out by himself.

Even though we all agree that the new boat was a great investment,

I think he misses those crazy jet ski days!

We had a blast!

When we got back to the dock, Andy took Ashley

 out for a jet ski ride

while Cody and I watched the kids.

No photos of that, I was too busy!

~sigh~

Now do you see why I don't want summer to end?

Whatever Floats Your Boat!

On Saturday, Mr. K and I were eating dinner when I got a call from Andy:

Camp.  Tomorrow.  Boat leaves at 11.  Be there.  Bring your own sandwiches.

So we went.  We brought sandwiches.  Boat didn't leave until 11:30 but we left,

that's what is important.

We haven't used the boat much.  With all the high and very fast water,  crappy weather

and a damaged dock, we had to pull the boat out and

 keep it in the yard.

By time we got there, Andy's friend Cody had it hitched to his truck, ready to take it to the launch.

Once it was in the water...we were ready to load and leave!

First the sunblock.  Andy really knows how to grease those kids up!

 

Teagan wasn't sure she liked wearing a life jacket

"Uncle" Cody bought a new raft for us.

He got to try it out!

 Andy did his best to throw him off!

He finally did!

Locklan loves the water, so does Teagan but she likes to eat even more.  

We pulled over to have our lunch...

Andy jumped on...

Locklan brought his lunch and joined him.

He and Locklan had a ball!

Locklan spent an hour or so jumping off the boat onto the raft, pretending he was going out on a river rescue!

He rescued Cody!

And Dad!

Teagan loved the water!

She wasn't all that keen on the life jacket...

But she squealed and laughed when Andy dipped her into the water!

What a fabulous day!

 But the yawns started...

And the eye lids slowly closed...

And we headed for the dock...

Where Locklan declared he was starving...

Two hours later I got a text from Ashley saying Locklan, Andy and Teagan were still asleep.

She sent this photo...

What a day!

Memorial Day Weekend

 There's nothing like a three-day weekend, is there?

Actually, some of us started early...

Like Tony, Mindy and Henry!  They went out on Friday evening.  

As you can see, Henry had a whopping good time!

Saturday, the guys headed out early to cut the grass and get the docks ready...

Mr. K and I came next and last but not least, came Ashley, Mindy and the babies!

They really enjoyed the kiddie pool...

But the highlight of the weekend was the boat!

Two weeks ago, Mindy sent me this photo of Henry wearing his new life jacket...

He seemed pretty happy wearing it!

That wasn't the case once we got on the boat!

He was pretty unhappy!

Finally we pulled up to shore to give him a break...

His Grandma Dawna came to spend the day with us...

Andy,  Teagan and Locklan 

went out on the back deck...

They dangled their feet in the water.

Locklan immediately decided it was too cold (it really was)...

Teagan thought it was great!

After her dip, Teagan was ready to melt into Mommy's lap!

Grandma Jan and Locklan love to go "faster than fast"

Talk about fun...

It's no secret that I love family time.

It's no secret that I love the river.

It's no secret that I love boating...

Oh say can you see (our tree)?

A few weeks ago, Andy got a call...

A tree had come down on our dock!

 

It was late but he went out to check on things (like the boat)!

 

All he had with him was his cell phone, but he took this picture:

 

 

The next day, we went out to check on things.  Ron took this photo:

 

It doesn't look all that big from here, but it was huge and went over to the neighbor's dock.

 

Andy, Tony and friends worked one full day, but all they accomplished was bring the brush up the hill

(and getting a whopping case of poison ivy).

 

They decided that since the diameter at the base was about 36" they needed to bring in the MAN TOYS!

 

Did they finish?  You bet, and before noon.

 

Did they have fun?

 

I'm sure they did, but look who had the most fun...
