I Love Winter and Snow, but...

There are days when I think of the river, summer days and just plain being lazy!  Playing around during the day, getting ready for a campfire in the evening...

No, that's not all I think of, but I found these photos in my phone and I really start missing it.

This summer, Andy and Tony put our docks in for the first time. On the fourth of July, we all lay on the dock and watched fireworks.  It was magical, I tell you!

You'll never guess where I spent a lazy summer Sunday, reading and napping...

That's my chair!

When the weather got really hot, Ashley got the tubes ready...

...and we launched Babes in Boats with Books!

We took our books, our cold drinks and climbed into the tubes and floated the afternoon away, dipping our toes into the bath-temperature water.

Don't think all we did was float! 
Some of us tried to perfect our game of table golf...

Some of us practiced motor boat paddling...

Some paddled jet skis...

And some rode docks...

 

And then  rested...

While some kayaked...

Some failed at kayaking...

 

Oh my!

Any way you look at it...

It's our piece of...

Hurry, summer!

But for now...
Brrrrrr!

I'm outta here.  It's today and today is a gift.  We can't waste time wishing it away.  I've got lunch plans.  Who knows, maybe I'll blog about it later.  For now, go out and be a blessing to someone!

Build a Pig Store?

I kid you not!

Right before Christmas, Morgan, Tony and I went to the Strip District.

We were on a mission, but some of us stopped to try on stupid hats...

See?  Told you!

Why I really went was to go to Wholey's Fish Market.

  We've been there many times, they have a wonderful selection of seafood, beef, turkey...and now they feature...are you ready???

Build-a-Pig!

 And you end up with the...

See? Now do you believe me?

I'm not sure, but I think if I pay for the upgrade I can get this...

Now do you believe me?  It's Monday and I have lots to do.  You go out and be a blessing to someone, I will too and we can meet here again very soon!

Mom, I'm bored...

Those words all mothers have come to dread.  It can come from the mouth of your child, no matter the age...even when they are 24!

Good mothers have all resources available to create an interesting and creative project that will distract the bored child from the boredom..

Trust me, I've been a mom over 40 years, I was ready! 

For this project, all you need is dog shampoo, a bath tub and:

an English mastiff:

A basset hound...

 

If that doesn't cure the boredom, you can add:

A second English mastiff, especially if you have one over 200 pounds.  That way, when he sits down, he creates a dam that the water won't pass!

Add a long hair black cat for good measure...

Might as well complete the project, there is one more cat somewhere...

Nope.  He declined the opportunity.  We never argue with a cat with claws...

So, how do you cure boredom?  I usually say I am never bored, but I did remember the one time I was bored silly.  I was in the hospital, waiting for Mark to bring me newspapers, books, knitting...ANYTHING!  I was only waiting 20 minutes, but I managed to dial 'time and temperature' 30 times!

Got things to keep me busy waiting for me now, so I'll just remind you, go out and be a blessing to someone!

Sarah Palin, is that YOU?

I love to read the Live Traffic Feed on this blog. Sometimes I can figure out who stopped by, some locations remain a mystery.

This is what I saw this morning, do you think it was HER?????

Snow, snow, beautiful snow!!!!

 

We have had so much snow in the past week.  There is nothing more beautiful than falling snow...

 

And I love, LOVE how things look with a fresh coating of snow...

 

But...

 

When you have a basset hound, too much snow can result in freezing her "never minds."

 

So Tony, who has a kind heart, shoveled poop paths for Winnie, who was very grateful...

 

 

Linda, however, didn't seem to notice!

 

 

Okay, the snow was pretty, it was fun to walk in it, now I'm tired of it.

We inclined!

 

Aha, you are back to see what we did to end our day in 'da burgh' (oh, and that's how Pittsburghers say it), aren't you?

 

Well, I have just a few minutes to spend with you today.  I have to shop.  I thought I was done but last night I realized I had forgotten one very important thing:  food!  So, unless I can get away with serving oatmeal and cold meatloaf for Christmas dinner, I have to buy food...grrr....I  hate that...

 

Especially since we are expecting our first snow of the season!  Yes, 4 to 6 inches!  I'm so excited!

 

But back to the story, we discovered that neither Ashley nor Kayla had ever been to Mount Washington on the incline!

 

What's an incline?  Well, there's a neighborhood in Pittsburgh that sits on a very steep hill overlooking the river.  In the olden days, there was a mile long staircase that went down the hill to the river and the railroad tracks below.  These days, there are two inclines that climb about 800 feet up the hill to the observation decks overlooking the city.

Some of us were chicken and decided not to go up on the incline and drove up instead.

 

We took the incline!

 

 

 

The view from the top was spectacular!

 

 

 

 

As only the brave can tell you...

 

 

So here we are...almost done with the day, but no photos of the rest.  We went to Mike and Michelle's for spaghetti and unless you want to see the resulting weight gain on my scale, you'll have to use your imagination.

 

Now, there are things that need to be done, so I'm going out to do them.  You all ready for Christmas?
