Einlauf? Seriously?

On Saturday, Ron and I took another road trip (translation:  eating in a restaurant that is more than 15 miles from home).  We ate at the Allegheny Grille Restaurant, right on the Allegheny River.  We had a wonderful dinner, so wonderful that I had two thoughts...  1.That we should not eat out on Sunday,
2. That I didn't want to cook at home.

Then I had this great idea!

I picked up my phone and called my mother.  I asked her if she was in the mood for some great German food.  Of course she said yes, so on Sunday afternoon we headed down to get mom and dashed her off to Max's Allegheny Tavern for some good old fashioned German food.

Mr. K's first question, no matter where we are, is what is the soup today?

The server told us they always have French Onion (In a German restaurant?) and Einlauf.

Okay, what's an Einlauf?

Here's what the menu said...

Einlauf Soup • Cup 2.95 - Bowl 3.95 A light, rich chicken broth, generously sprinkled with homemade Einlauf noodles and
seasoned with a delicate blend of spices. Our Einlauf noodles are made by pouring a
seasoned mixture of flour and eggs into briskly boiling chicken broth.

It was magnificent!  It was delicious.

The chicken that they used to make the broth must have been a millionaire,
it was that rich!

But still, we kept asking what an einlauf was...

No one could tell us, so I did what any adult with a smart phone would do...

I went to google image and found this...

Over and over...it was either this or maybe a soccer team?
Hmmmmmm?

I think my cup was a little more attractive, what do you think?

Not All Grandmas are Great...

Last week, Locklan came to spend the night...

I love those times and try to make them special...

He's growing so quickly, it was time for new grandma-house pajamas...

He was pretty tickled with them!

The next day, we played with one of our favorite things,
those glass stones from the dollar store!

We make designs, we separate them into colors,
we even count them...
Over the past few months, we've accumulated about 8 pounds of them...

How do I know?
Our latest project...

We weighed them on the kitchen scale!

Lunch time, Locklan showed off his chop stick ability...

He even figured out how to eat a peanut butter sandwich!

Later, Andy and Teagan picked us up and we went to visit my mom...

Teagan loves Grandma Toots as long as she can sit on Dad's lap!

Yesterday, Tony, Andy and Locklan went out to play with their RC trucks...

Mr K and I went sectional shopping...

But I couldn't make up my mind...

And since Mr K has had a hankering for German Food,
We headed for one of our favorites...

so he could chow down on Stuffed Kielbasa!

That should keep him happy for a while!

~soooooooo~

It's still sunny out there,
Mr K announced he has a cold...

sooooooo I'm going shopping!

Pictures only in my mind...

I do not have a photograph to accompany this post,
I did not take my camera...

But even if I had taken it, I would have been so dumbfounded
I would not have remembered to use it.

Last night, we went to Hokkiado, the new local Japanese restaurant.

I've never eaten Japanese before...

Never eaten after watching my food go up in flames before
(at least not outside of my own home),

I never sat boldly watching the chef/server twirl knives
and throw food into our mouths before...

Wow!

I can't wait to try it at home!

No, I can't say I am a huge fan of Japanese food...

But the rest of the show?

Bring it on!

If you need me, I'll be in the kitchen, practicing...

but I'll be back!

Providing I still have all my fingers,
after twirling with knives...

Have not singed my eye lashes...

and Ron has not choked on the food I threw into his mouth from across the room.

Wish us luck!
